2 month check up

Shots! She got her first round of shots and she was pretty good about it. I had expected her cry the whole day but when they gave her the shots she cried for a minute and stopped. What a trooper. Here's what we found out:

Weight: 10pd 120z
Height: 22 1/2 inches
Head circumference: 15 inches

Pretty much she is average on everything (50th percentile). The doctor did say she was really strong. He was holding her arm and hand and I guess she was gripping him pretty tight. I already knew she had a great grip by how much hair she has pulled out of my head already! She does have acid reflux and colic... poor girl. But we're just going to have to wait those things out. The doctor gave us a prescription for her reflux but I'm not big on using prescription meds unless it is absolutely necessary... which for her it isn't since she has good weight gain. So, I'm just going to have to try cutting out all dairy and high acidic food from my diet... that should be fun. :) (Does anyone have any ideas of other stuff I can do for the reflux/colic/gas? I've tried gripe water, mylicon etc. and nothing seems to work! Also does anyone know of other things that I should eliminate from my diet? Any suggestions are appreciated!) All in all she is a healthy baby and happy sometimes. (when her stomache doesn't hurt and she's not throwing up)

Her pediatrician talking to her. He has been so great! Everytime we leave the appointments we both say how much we like him. He's so attentive to us and spends so much time with us when we come in. We never feel like he's rushing. He always explains things medically and chemically in detail so we realyl understand whats going on. I remember when he was explained her jaundice he was telling us how the billi beds work by changing the the cis and trans structures of the molecules...pretty cool. (he knows we've both taken a lot of chemistry classes). So yah we really like him.

getting dressed before she gets her shots!

Heidi I can't believe Afton is 2 months already! where does time go? I wanted to respond about the things you can eliminate from your diet to help with gas and colic. Trent was a gassy baby and I was told by numerous people to eliminate broccoli and cabbage. Also if you are drinking dark sodas, get rid of those too..they're supposed to create gas in babies. When I got rid of those things, it seemed to help A LITTLE...Trent was still gassy though. It's all trial and error, this seemed to work with other babies, but then again, every baby is different. Good luck, the colic should pass soon. Afton is beautiful!

Very Cute. Good Job Afton on growing so Healthy & Strong. All the pictures are adorable. It's fun that she is smiling, and I am sure lot's of silly noises will soon be coming from her too. She sure is strong, that reminds me so much of how Kaedyn was too. Trying to sit up and just be part of the party. Since she is super strong, be careful about leaving her up high spots (the Bed). Kaedyn started rolling over right after 2 months old. There is something exciting to look forward to everyday. Luvs, Kiley, Brent & Baby K

Heidi,
It's Tiff. One of the things we tell the mom's of the kids with acid reflux is to make sure and avoid any caffeine (chocolate too). Also with acid reflux over-feeding can cause them to throw up. Unfortunately Colic, Acid Reflux, and gas run hand in hand. Some babies get it and some don't in the same family. It is all just trial and error. But it does get better, 2-3 months is about the peak, and then it almost changes over night, suprisingly. She is so cute. I can't believe she is already 2 months old. If you ever need anything let me know.

Oh Heidi, I love that you are a mommy..... who takes a lot of pictures! Thats awesome!:) My hubby sometimes thinks that I am asian, but I don't care, I want to capture the moment. How are you guys doing? Will you be in Fresno around New Years by chance? Hope to see you. I am planning to stop by your parents. I can't tell you enough times that I love the name Afton.

So I went through all the trial and error junk and I was going crazy! For Charlotte it was tomatoes. ridiculous but true. I think mustard too-I was never sure about mustard cuz I always had ketchup too so I didn't eat it just in case. Random I know-but anything with tomatoes I ate made her so mad! A lot of Chocolate too, made her mad. if I had a little piece it was okay but once I ate a huge piece of rich chocolate cake and she screamed all night.

I also stayed away from; onions, beans (any kind), broccoli, cabbage, spicy foods and caffine.

I hope you figure it out.
