Well last year in the summer we decided to try and climb Cowles Mountain. It did not go well! I was 5 and a half months pregnant and about had a heat stroke! Yah, we didn't make it all the way to the top. We decided to try it again, this time with a little better planning but also a baby. Instead of doing it in the afternoon on a day when it was in the 90's we tried to go earlier and on a cooler day. We also decided to go a shorter route that is 2 miles instead of the long way. Unfortunately on our 2nd attempt we still did not make it! So sad, I know! But we left a little late and it did end up getting hot on the mountain and there's absolutely no shade on the hike and we got worried that it was just getting to hot for Afton and she doesn't really fit well in the baby carrier yet... yada yada yada. So we're planning it again.... because before we leave this place(San Diego), we WILL conquer Cowles Mountain!
Turning around and heading home! Nice try!
Sportin the spandex!
The beginning of the trail starts at this park by our house so we decided to just hang out at the park in the shade and eat our lunches and snacks we had packed. It turned into and nice little picnic.
Family pic.
WEEE!
When we got home we decided to give Afton solids for the first time.... She LOVED it... or not.

Saturday was Logans only day off this week. He's been working a lot of 6 day work weeks. Poor guy. Friday night he also worked a 14 hour shift so he left at like 6 Friday and didn't get home until Saturday morning around 7:30! He slept for a couple of hours while Afton and I played in the living room but ended up getting up because he "didn't want to waste his day off sleeping". We decided to head to Balboa park to see what was happening there.... there is always something going on. Sure enough there was. The organ pavilion was filled with dancers showing custom dances from their countries. We got there in time to see The House of Mexico perform. There were also a lot of people taking pictures. There were mom's with their kids dressed in their easter outfits taking pictures, 4 weddings and 4 girls taking quinceanera pictures... lots of fun. We hadn't been inside the Botanical building yet and got there just in time to take a quick look (5 minutes before it was closing).
Heading up to the Organ Pavillion.
Bummer. Maybe they're carnivorous too.
ome.
And a family pic. For some reason Afton was fascinated by the sky for like 10 minutes.

Lake Murray
There's this little lake right next to where we used to live. It has a big bike/running path pretty much all the way around it. One time Logan and I rode our bikes to it... Let me remind you San Diego is ALL hills. We both about died! haha. It kicked our butts! The weather was so nice and Logan had the afternoon off so we decided to return to take Afton for a little stroll. It was a great afternoon... and this time we weren't panting heavily when we left.

The Modest are the Hottest
So every summer the vain of my existance was trying to find a modest swimsuit! I usually just resorted to wearing my lifeguarding speedo since finding a cute midrif covering swimsuit was practically impossible! But now there are so many options! I Love it! So here is a list of some places to find CUTE, and MODEST swimsuits! (some of the places haven't released their new lines for this summer but keep checking their websites... their coming! And some of these sites have swimsuits that aren't modest also)
www.hapari.com This one's cool because all of thier swimsuits can be worn three ways (halter, tank, or criss cross.)
www.modbeclothing.com
www.limericki.com
www.shadeclothing.com
www.layersclothing.com Thier 2009 line isn't quite out yet but I'm really looking forward to it.
www.landsend.com
www.diviinemodestee.com This websites set up a little weird but still check it out!
www.newport-news.com
If you know of some great sites for modest swimsuits leave a comment and let us know!

Sit ups and Visits
She started sitting up this week!
And after about 30 seconds she tips over.
Thursday to Wednesday Grandma and Grandpa came down for a one day visit. My dad periodically comes down for court appearances in San Diego and this time my mom decided to come down to and hang out for the day. It's always a lot of fun to have visitors... even if it is just for a day!
With them they brought down this crib from Edna and David, my neighbors in Fresno. We're so lucky to recieve a free crib!:)

Oh no!
We're in trouble! She's become a little more mobile. As of Tuesday she has started rolling from her back to her stomach. Now she squirms and rolls all the time. Getting her into her carseat and changing her diaper has gotten to be a harder task!

A lot can happen in 4 months!
Afton's first Dr.'s appointment- a few days old
Afton 4 1/2 months old
We went to the pediatricians today for a weight check on Afton. She's almost 14 pounds and gained 8 oz in 2 weeks, so she's gaining plenty of weight. When I was unloading our pictures onto the computer I noticed how big she looked so I pulled up the pictures from her first appointment... what a difference 4 months can make! She's huge!
The weather was so nice that after her appointment we decided to get a lemonade and walk around at an outdoor mall in town. In one of the stores Dad decided to put some cool shades on Afton. I was surprised when I turned around after a second of looking away and this is what I saw. haha.
