Flying with young kids alone is never fun...

I'm usually just trying to survive. Our flights from Puerto Rico back to Fresno for christmas break was long and exhausting. We had 3 very short layovers so we ended up running from one plane to the next. The kids did great on the first 2 flights. By great I mean they weren't crying or throwing tantrums but that doesn't mean it was easy. Our last leg of the journey from LA to Fresno Emery cried pretty much the entire flight. Yah I was that mom that everyone hates and gives evil looks to. Nothing could console her. Luckily it was our shortest flight of the day. I think she was just tired of not having a good nap. Taking naps in someones lap just isn't the same as a crib. I was so grateful when the plane landed in Fresno. I felt like kissing the ground and crying all at the same time. I distinctly remember telling my mom and sister at the gate as they greeted us that "I will never do that again!" I lied. I'm sure I'll do it atleast another half dozen times before we leave Puerto Rico.

Emery threw up on me probably 6 different times. Finally I had to take my sweatshirt off because it smelt awful. Oh I can't wait for her to grow out of the spit up and throw up stage!

One of many naps!

I blew it! Logan had the iphone loaded with all sorts of games and videos for the trip and the night before i decided to plug it into my computer to add a few songs. It wasn't until we were on our flight that I figured out it had wiped everything off that he had put on it and only left the music and one game I added!! So out went the plan to entertain Afton with the phone. I even tried buying a movie during one of our short layovers and it wasn't working. I won't do that again!

Grandpa

I love it when Afton draws pictures of people she knows. ha ha

Little Buddies

Poor Mia gets malled by Emery anytime she see's her. Emery just wants to kiss her and head butt her to death. It's a lot of fun having great neighbors to play with! Thanks Heather for the pics and the babysitting!

Shakira

I forgot to post about our first concert in a long long time...Shakira. For my birthday/mothers day/our anniversary, Logan surprised me with tickets to go see Shakira in October. I was a little worried at first that her concert would be a little risque for me. Then I also worried that the whole thing would be in spanish and I wouldn't like it. We found baby sisters (2 of Logans classmates Justine and Kiani) and went and I have to say it was one of the best concerts that I have been to. She is an amazing performer!! It wasn't at all trashy. Loved it! I especially liked that she sang most of her songs in Spanish. Most of them sound better in spanish and her spanish was very clear and easy to understand... not like Puerto Rican spanish.

As you can tell we had the "cheap seats". That's about all we could afford! But we loved it.

We live about a quarter of a mile from the Coliseum where all the concerts/events are so we just walked. Here in Puerto Rico everyone parks wherever they want. I swear the police write tickets once a year. I've even seen people run huge red lights infront of police and they didn't do anything. So anytime there is a concert people park up on the sidewalks once the parking lot fills up.

MIA

Well as you can tell I am very very far behind on my blog. It has just been one thing after the other. I decided that as soon as we got home from our Christmas break in Cali that I would catch up. Unfortunately I landed but my luggage did not. It was lost all over the US. When it finally made it's way back to me, my laptop was broken. I'm sure it had nothing to do with how carefully they handled our luggage. ;) It took weeks for Logan to find time to take it apart and fix it (a loose wire inside). It was finally fixed just a few days before we moved to our new apartment. Since the move in Jan we have been without the internet. After 2 months of fighting with CLARO, hours and hours on the phone and on hold, they finally sent an installation guy out. He installed our internet/phone, left, and 30 minutes later our internet did not work. Well to make a long annoying story short... it's been a long time but we are finally connected. So updates and posting here I come.

Christmas Card Pictures

This year I really wanted to e-mail out Christmas cards but it never happened. Too many other priorities. We did make it out to OSJ to take a few family pictures though. Here is what was supposed to be this years christmas card. :)

Not a huge fan of taking pictures

This was my attempt to show Afton how to run through the water fountain and not get very wet.... it didn't go well.

Piraguas= shaved ice

I wouldn't want to be in a wheel chair in OSJ. It's hard enough getting the stroller up and down the handicap ramps.

After pictures lunch at a place the Butlers showed us, Sam's patio. It was so so delicious and affordable. The mofongo and tostones were great.

Out with Mom

On Saturday Logan really needed to study so we decided to head out on our own to give him a quite house. It was quite the day. With our car once again broken down, Afton, Emery and I took the ferry to the OSJ to go to the childrens musuem. Of course Afton mentioned to me on the ferry ride over that she needed to go to the bathroom. Finding bathrooms here in PR isn't the easiest task so I decided I would try and hurry to the childrens museum. We got there a little early and then in true Puerto Rican form the musuem opened 20 minutes late. I realized getting her to a bathroom just wasn't going to happen so we got to practice her outside behind a bush squating skills that she leanred this summer camping. I decided that with the waiting and squating and stressing, we deserved a parcha icecream. When the museum finally opened we were so ready to get out of the heat and Emery was ready to nurse. We found the play area and I sat down in the comfy chair to nurse Emery. It was only 10 minutes before Afton had to go to the bathroom again, then again, then again. Before we left the museum 2 hours later, I got to help Afton go to the bathroom 4 times while holding Emery in one arm. Emery decided she also didn't want to make the trip an easy task for me and threw up on me 4 times and all over the ground once. I don't think the museum workers were very happy about that. After 2 hours I was ready to go home. We walked in the heat back to the ferry and of course, it didn't show up and we were stranded. Just as I was ready to find a taxi to take us home a bus showed up. It was the craziest/scariest bus ride I have ever been on. He was swerving in and out of traffic, flying past everyone, cutting people off, looking back at me and asking me questions, texting and answering his phone. I was so grateful when we were finally able to get off that bus and walk the rest of the way home! What a day, what an exhausting but memorable day.
